The Benefits of Juicing

Juicing is Just One Piece Of The Puzzle

Juicing is an amazing tool to assist in your health and your body's natural process of cellular regeneration. Juicing can work absolute wonders on the body especially when done on a  consistent basis.

From the moment that you take your first sip of fresh pressed juice, the body seems to perk up and fill with a nourishing energy from this nutritive life giving substance.

Juicing isn’t a panacea, it’s not a cure all!

Juicing is best to add into your wellness portfolio and longevity toolbox. The body and mind require good nutrition from a wide variety of fruits and vegetables.  Good quality physical exercise and movement and deep restorative rest in order to be healthy.

Juicing is one piece of the puzzle so try not to get fixated on it or any other one healing modality.

I always try to open my mind to as many different pathways of health and wellness as possible.

Whether it’s organic food, fresh spring water or healing movement like yoga or qigong.  Everything that we do has a cumulative, healing effect on the body and mind.

Try To Juice Everyday

Fresh juice is an amazing way to up your intake of high quality nourishment on a regular basis.

I usually just incorporate fresh juice into my daily life. I try to drink somewhere around 16 ounces of fresh vegetable juice every single morning.

However, once in a while, I feel like a good thorough  juice cleanse. I feel like my body just craves it sometimes.

I usually do a cleanse for about 3 Days.

Some people do longer 7 day juice cleanses.

Everyone is different.

Juice as Medicine

What makes fresh juice so amazing is how it gets absorbed into the body and bloodstream so quickly.  When you consume fresh juice without the fiber and pulp it’s able to bypass the entire digestive process and directly nourish the body and all the vital parts very quickly.

Chew Your Juice

I always kinda chew my juice extremely well. What happens is when you chew your juice (swish it around in your mouth) it allows the juice to mix with your saliva which helps aid in the digestive process.

Saliva contains a natural digestive enzyme called amylase. So more chewing equals better jumpstart on digestion, which means more efficient digestion, assimilation and elimination of nutrients for your body and mind.

Also, when you drink to many liquids during a meal you end up diluting these naturally occurring enzymes in your mouth along with the acids inside the stomach.

When I eat I always try and sip my beverages nice and slowly (just enough to wet my mouth).

Juicing Vs Blending

Juicers and blenders both break down fruits and vegetables into a liquid form.

Blenders mix all the ingredients together and create a smoothie. They retain all the fiber along with the juice.

Juicers extract and remove all the fiber (pulp) from the juice. The best juicers separate almost all of the juice from pulp.

So, blenders mix everything together (fiber and all), and juicers separate everything including the peel, skin, seeds and all the fiber.

Juice Your Veggies and blend Your Fruits

A good rule of thumb should be to juice mainly green vegetables. The reason for this is because when you juice fruit it’s easy to get an overload of sugar (fructose).

When you eat or blend the entire fruit along with the fiber (including the peel) it allows for much slower absorption into the body and bloodstream. This will help prevent your body from getting such a high dose of sugar all at once. This will prevent a high spike in insulin.

Adjusting The Taste Of Your Juice

Many people find the taste of vegetable juice to be a tad bitter and hard to get used to (especially if you’ve been on a standard american diet for many years).

I find the best way to make juice much more delicious and palatable is to just add a little lemon or an apple.

It’s best to include the whole fruit (peel and all), because most of the health benefits are located just beneath the skin of most fruits.

Top 5 Health Benefits of Juicing

  1. Juicing helps you absorb minerals and nutrients very quickly by virtually bypassing the entire process of digestion. This is especially useful when you are trying to build up and regenerate your immune system for overall health and wellness.
  1. Juicing is a great way to consume very large quantities of fresh vegetables especially since most people already have a hard time getting their daily recommended servings.
  1. Juicing allows you to easily add a very wide spectrum of vegetable to your daily diet. You can only eat so much kale, but you can fit almost a pound of the stuff into an 8 ounce glass! This is great considering that most people only eat the same kind of vegetables every single day.
  1. The more varieties of fresh vegetables that you consume the higher number of overall phytonutrients and live enzymes that you will give to body. This will also help to slow down the aging process!
  1. And it’s no mystery that the more fresh and “live” vegetables that you can get into your diet the better that you will feel. When you drink fresh juice you’re consuming living nourishment that the body goes absolutely crazy for. Your body will surely reward you with a surge of energy that will be sustained throughout the day without sudden crash like you experience with coffee and caffeine.

Hands down I one of my favorite reasons for drinking fresh juice and smoothies on a consistent everyday basis is because it raises my vibration (life force) and gives more life to my body and mind.

I find that my body just function at a more optimal state. My mind seems sharper and my sense of recall is so much quicker.

But one of the coolest benefits of everyday juicing is how the skin and especially the eyes start to almost glow. Fresh, living, nutrient packed juice really does accentuate a happy and healthy lifestyle.

Cleaning Produce For Juicing

Unless you live on a farm and harvest all of your own produce, it’s a smart idea to wash all of your store bought produce.

This especially important if you plan on consuming fresh produce (without cooking) in the form of fresh salads and juices where the food is ate raw and not cooked.

There have been to many cases of contaminated food and harmful bacteria making their way onto shore shelves.

My favorite concoction is to rinse and soak all my produce in vinegar and baking soda.

Here’s how to mix it:

Simply fill up a 1 gallon  bowl of cool water, note: it doesn't have to be exact.

Next, add an ounce or two of vinegar. You can use white table vinegar or apple cider vinegar. The choice is yours.

Then sprinkle in a little baking soda.

Mix it together and allow it to sit for a few minutes. That’s it!

A word About Juice Powders

Lately there has been an explosion of juice powders, meal replacement powders and superfood powders all over the internet and covering store shelves throughout the nation.

I have to say that I’ve used these a few times over the years also

They come in different flavors with a list of countless benefits from a A-Z.

They claim to give you all the benefits of juicing without the hassle of cleaning up.

My take on these is that they can be great on occasion especially if it comes down to choosing these juice powders vs store bought pasteurized juice.

I see a major defect and problem with these packed up juice and meal replacement powders.

Yes, they’re convenient but they lack fresh, living vital energy and life force.

Plus they are heavily processed (even the highest quality ones).

Just hear me out for a minute. Just think about a carrot or a stalk of celery.

When you first purchase it from the store it’s firm, crisp and very fresh.

Now, what happens to produce when it sits in your refrigerator for a week or two?

It start to go limp and loose it’s vitality.  I fully understand however that the highest quality powders are freeze dried when the produce is at its peak of ripeness.

These powders are better than no juice and smoothies at all. I sometimes use these also,

But try not to rely on them every single day.

What’s Your Priority?

If you truly want to be more vibrant and healthy and add more life to your years then it’s gonna take a little work. There’s just no shortcut.

There isn’t any one multivitamin or supplement that will make you healthy.

It’s the culmination of a balanced and healthy lifestyle, day by day.
